Heroic Age: Episode 1 April 13
Heroic Age (ヒロイック・エイジ) | Episode 1 - Star of Destruction | Air Date: April 1, 2007
Summary: We find ourselves thrown into a war-torn era of space travel. As two races, humans and the silver race, fight over dominance in space, the extinction of the human race becomes ever closer. In an attempt to save humankind, the princess of the human race, Dheanalia, sets out to find the legendary man promised to them by the Golden race, the one who originally beckoned for the races to migrate to space. Floating out in space in an out-of-body form, Princess Dheanalia uses her powers to sense the position of their destination, the planet containing the man from the Golden race’s prophecies. She informs the rest of her people and they set off toward the planet. The scene cuts to the planet where a young, savage-like boy is out looking for food. After successfully finding food, he returns to his home, which is a spaceship he calls “mother”. As the boy goes out to thank the creature he fought to get his food, the humans arrive on the planet.
The humans discover the boy’s home and decide to send in some people to investigate it. Two girls, Mail and Tail are sent in along with some guards. They fix up the ship to close to a more working state with their powers to get some information out of it. While doing so, they come across the boy, who frightens the group and causes them to run away in fear. Dheanalia uses her powers once again to project herself out to the boy and talk to him, for she believes him to the the one in the prophesies. Much to her surprise, the boy, who introduces himself as “Age”, speaks in their language perfectly. Ad they are speaking, the Silver race suddenly assaults the planet and a battle between the two races begins. During the battle, Age is confronted by one of the Silver race. Knowing he stands no chance against it, Dheanalia yells to him to get away, but it is too late and he is shot at by one of the Silver race. However, the attack proves to have no effect and Age is sent through a transformation process which turns him into a giant, living mecha. Age efficiently and easily begins to annihilate any one of the Silver race that stands in his way. He then launches himself into space where the mothership of the Silver race awaits. He forces his way inside and destroys the core, causing it to explode. As the humans watch on in shock, Age lands back on the planet and stands, surrounded in a sea of fire.

This is really the only other anime this season I’ve enjoyed beyond Hayate. I found the art, animation, and feel of it to just be spectacular. The first time I watched it I felt like I was watching a movie, though, I don’t know if that’s just because I had just got done watching the Z Gundam movies >.>… Anyway, the story is pretty interesting to me, so far. Age is a pretty interesting character to me. It’s not often the main character is portrayed as a savage who has lived alone his whole life. This will probably impact how Age grows through-out the series since he probably does not know the pains of a normal human. I believe it’s headed in a good direction and am hopeful for its future.
Next time, on Heroic Age! The race to cut Age’s hair begins!

My only real complaint about the series is that it resembles the end “plot twist” that almost ruined a fine feudal battling anime. However, the movie-like presentation and animation quality and typical natures of the characters is nice for the sci-fi/mecha genre, without bringing out something like Bokurano with a bunch of disfunctional kids piloting a “pedophile’s” robot inside of a game that’s not really game.

ah… just to correct an error. The silver tribe didnt appear in episode 1. Those bug thingies that attacked them are the bronze tribe. apparently they’re like completely subservient to the silver tribe so they are used as an enforcement arm by the silver tribe.
