sola 2-1

Summary: The confrontation between Matsuri and Tsujidou continues, with Yorito still as witness. The display of supernatural powers from both bewilders him, yet when Matsuri is injured he doesn’t hesitate to rush to her rescue. He takes her back to his home, and upon her recovery tries to ascertain exactly what happened at the church the night before. After attempting to repay his kindess with a heartfelt, home-cooked meal, Matsuri reveals to Yorito that she is not a human, but a centuries-old immortal creature whom Tsujidou referred to as a yaka – a “woe of the night”.

Likewise, she is incapable of coming directly in contact with sunlight, so she has never been able to see the blue sky. Worried for her safety, Yorito tries to discourage her from leaving the house after nightfall, but Matsuri only answers cryptically that she wouldn’t want him to grow to hate her one day. Just then Mana calls, concerned about Yorito’s absence that day and to tell him that his sister Aono has threatened to return home unless he visits her in the hospital. He is able to calm her down, but when he returns, Matsuri is seemingly nowhere to be found. When he finally finds her staring at the mural of the sky on his bedroom ceiling, he promises that someday he will show her a real azure sky.

Kad says…
Since only a few things were alluded to this time, I’m hoping that the next episode will have more answers. What Matsuri actually is, how she came to be, and what she has done to deserve Tsujidou’s pursuit, to name a few things. At this point in the story, it’s also unclear what the relationship is between Tsujidou and the little girl named Mayuko, and how exactly they are connected to Matsuri. My guess would be that for this sort of series, slow development could be expected for the story and characters. That aside, the presentation is still gorgeous and retains all the eye-candy from the episode before it. I’m looking foward to the next review.
